The Workshop of Maq'ad* Mamay (AH901 / AD1496)
Brief:
This structure, today known as the Bayt al-Qadi, was built by one of Sultan Qaytbay's amirs and was probably part of a large palace with a courtyard at its center. Currently it's abandoned or underused.
*Maq'ad: It was used to describe the men reception area in houses/palaces at that time.
Objective:
The Workshop aims to explore ideas to reuse the building and to find ways to reconnect the building with the surrounding context.
Location:
The workshop will take place in the heart of the World Heritage Site of Historic Cairo
